How Does Cityhood Sound to You?

Brookhaven's moving toward cityhood. There's been talk of other communities looking to become municipalities. Might this be a good idea for North Druid Hills?

Brookhaven Patch that would codify the process through which communities could become cities. This, of course, spurred by the well-known interest of many Brookhaven residents to formally turn their community in a city.

Residents their have said they're frustrated with the county and want in their communities. The county is could have on county services. Some Brookhaven residents are that would accompany cityhood. Others don't think the have been discussed enough, and not enough residents are even aware of it.

The North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area has long struggled with its identity. There have been reports that a neighborhood group in Toco Hill has explored the idea of cityhood. Might this be something that residents here should consider? Tell us in the comments section below.

CORRECTION: A typo lead to the above story saying that two legislators support a bill that would codify how communities become states. It should have said "how communities become cities."

I'm assuming you live in an unincorporated area. As a resident of that area, do continued movements by communities toward cityhood and annexations cause you to worry about the impact on county services?

If Brookhaven incorporates, Druid Hills/Briarcliff/Lavista will be the closest intown unincorporated area on the North side. This will translate to the best place for developers to rape and pillage. Without cityhood, Dekalb County Government will sellout our community to developers.
