Lakeside City Alliance to Hold Community Meeting Next Week

The April 18 event will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Lakeside Community Alliance will hold its next community meeting at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road on April 18.

The event, which is expected to draw hundreds of area residents interested in the potential formation of a city of Lakeside, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church’s Carlos Community Center at 2500 Clairmont Road.

Volunteers from the alliance, a non-profit group, will take questions from the community about the pros and cons of incorporation. The guest speaker will be Oliver Porter, a Sandy Springs resident who authored the book, Creating the New City of Sandy Springs: The 21st Century Paradigm.

The event was rescheduled after the alliance canceled an April 1 meeting at Clairmont Presbyterian Church to find a new, larger venue.

The alliance wants to avoid the oversized crowd at a similar meeting at Tucker Middle School last month that bled from the packed cafeteria into the hallway and concerned the fire marshall who turned away more than 100 residents.
