Rader, Gannon to Host Census Redistricting Meeting at Northlake Mall

The DeKalb County commissioners will hold the meeting inside the One DeKalb Resource Center in the mall July 28.

DeKalb County commissioners Kathie Gannon and Jeff Rader are sponsoring a discussion that will cover district changes in the 2010 Census at on July 28.

The meeting, which will be held inside the One DeKalb Resource Center at 7pm, will be part of a Civic Association Network Issues Meeting, and the Census portion is the first item on the agenda. The meeting is one of a series commissioners are holding to address the changes.

Residents will learn about the demographic changes in the 2010 Census that will drive reapportionment and changes in the political boundaries. Mike Alexander, head of research with the Atlanta Regional Commission, will describe which areas are gaining and losing population and how these changes will affect the political landscape. We will also be available to answer questions and take feedback on the impact of redistricting at the local level.

Gannon, who represents Super District 6, is also sponsoring a public information meeting on Wednesday, July 27 from 7pm - 8pm at Meadowview Elementary located at 1879 Wee Kirk Rd., Atlanta.
