Children's Healthcare Moving Into Old 19-Story Hotel

The company bought the aging building for $9.6 million.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is moving into one of North Druid Hills' bigger, unofficial landmarks.

The company, which operates numerous children's hospitals in the metro Atlanta area, paid $9.6 million for the 19-story high-rise – known at one point as the Executive Park Motor Hotel – at 1447 Northeast Expressway and North Druid Hills Road, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The purchase of the hotel is part of the overall development plan for that park, said Children’s Healthcare spokeswoman Patty Gregory.

Exactly how the building will be used, or what functions Children’s Healthcare will house there, is still uncertain, Gregory said. But, it would significantly raise the profile of the company along one of the most heavily traveled commutes between DeKalb and Fulton counties.

No doubt the development of that area will be very good for the commercial area near the intersection of Briarcliff and North Druid Hills roads. (And it'll be an added traffic headache to the already painful traffic situation that exists for much of the day along that corridor.)
