Group Endorses 3 School Board Candidates

eduKalb is backing Marshall D. Orson, Denise E. McGill and Dr. Pamela Speaks.

eduKalb, a group that says its mission is "to promote quality and sound school board leadership in DeKalb County," has endorsed three candidates for the DeKalb County Board of Education.

The group recently sent out this information:

Following interviews with (11) of the (12) candidates, a hosted community forum held July 10th at Westwood College and a comprehensive evaluation process, eduKALB’s Board has endorsed the following candidates:

  • District 2:  Marshall D. Orson
  • District 6:  Denise E. McGill
  • District 8:  Dr. Pamela Speaks

eduKALB opted not to endorse a candidate for District 4.

“The process was both exhaustive and difficult as we took seriously our role and commitment to identify candidates who we felt would best represent the teachers, staff and the 90,000 plus students in DeKalb County,” said Chris Marquardt, co-chair of eduKALB.
