We are pleased to announce the appointment of James P. Lee as the principal of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School effective July 1, 2011.  Mr. Lee holds a Master of Education in School Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University; a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Illinois; and, he has earned additional graduate coursework from both Northeastern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University.  An experienced educator with more than 17 years' experience in administrative positions, Mr. Lee has been a principal, assistant principal, curriculum director, registrar, department chair and teacher in Catholic Schools in Illinois.

Mr. Lee received formation as a Christian Brother and holds among his accomplishments:  implementing school accountability systems and increasing enrollment; augmenting reading programs to increase standardized test scores; chairing several AdvancED/NCEA school improvement plans; strengthening teacher supervision; promoting effective communication systems among parents, teachers and administrators; and, developing professional learning communities that fostered student learning.

Plans are underway to arrange a welcome reception for Mr. Lee.  The faculty and staff will first have an opportunity to meet with Mr. Lee and hear his vision for the school and then an evening "Meet and Greet" will be held for the school community.  More communication will follow once those dates are secured.

We would like to thank the members of the interview committee for their service during the interview process.  The end result was a unanimous recommendation which Fr. Schillinger accepted.

We know you will join us in welcoming Mr. Lee to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Family.  As he transitions and moves his family from Illinois to Georgia, he will begin to experience the wonderful school and parish communities of which we are so proud.

Respectfully,

Fr. James Schillinger, Pastor, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church
Diane Starkovich, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools, Archdiocese of Atlanta
