Sophia Academy Hosts Sixth Annual Fun Run

The event raised more than $4,000 toward a student scholarship, bringing the fund to over $40,000.

On Friday, April 26, Sophia Academy students participated in the school's sixth annual Corrigan Family Scholarship Fund Fun Run organized by parent volunteer, Mrs. Jennifer Wallace, and Sophia’s own, Coach John Turner. Students circled the entire school, receiving marks on their t-shirts to indicate their accomplished laps, which were run to raise money for the Corrigan Family Scholarship Fund. The school's parking lot was filled with music, a water station, several parent volunteers and friends of Sophia, and even sprinklers students could run through to cool off.  The top students to raise funds will be awarded with a special trip in a limousine to a pizza lunch with the school’s Founding Director, Mrs. Marie Corrigan.  The event raised over $4,000 toward a student scholarship, bringing the fund to over $40,000.

The Corrigan Family Scholarship was established in 2005 by an alumni parent to benefit a Sophia Academy student who has displayed the most significant improvement overall during the school year. This year's Corrigan Family Scholarship recipient will be announced at the school's Awards of Excellence Ceremony to be held May 22.

T-shirt sponsors include State Bank & Trust Company, Atlanta Bread Company and Cbeyond. Refreshment sponsor was Learning Rx.
