Sophia Academy Reenacts Last Supper
Fifth-graders read from scripture and ate the Mediterranean foods from Jesus' era.
As part of the Christian celebration of Holy Week, ο»Ώ's fifth-grade students annually reenact the Passover meal Jesus had with his disciples before going to the cross β historically called The Last Supper. Amid a table displaying the elements of the Passover meal (egg, lamb, herbs, unleavened bread), the students recently broke bread and drank juice according to the narrations read from scripture. Each disciple took turns introducing themselves, holding up a tangible object to represent their identity (moneybags for Judas, a rock for Peter), and the student playing Jesus humbly washed the disciples' feet. After the reenactment, students and their families were invited to a reception bearing the ancient Mediterranean foods of Jesus' day.
