Sophia Academy Spellers Advance

Two students will represent the school at a state tournament Feb. 7.

On Friday, Jan. 18, Sophia Academy held the annual Scripps Spelling Bee on campus. The entire student body, teachers, administration and parents were there to cheer on 10 contestants. Participants had won their classroom level contest. They were: Laura Turnbull, Trey Butts, Layne Atkinson, Justin Severe, Sam Barone, Jessica Bidjaksaleh, Yuri Zarus and Noelle Marchais. The winners of the spelling bee were eighth-grader Liam Flynn and seventh grade runner-up Jacob Gambrell, who will represent Sophia Academy at the Georgia Independent Schools Association Round I Spelling Bee on Feb. 7 at Greenfield Hebrew Academy.
