Weapon Scare Causes Lockdown at Lakeside High
The parent of a student called the school and said he was worried his son came to school armed, the school's principal said today.
was on lockdown for about 90 minutes today after a worried parent called and said his son may have brought a weapon to school, Principal Joe Reed said Wednesday afternoon.
The parent called at 1pm, and the school's doors were locked until 2:30pm as the student was located, searched and questioned, Reed said in an e-mail statement sent to parents. The parent also called back and spoke with the school's detective and changed his story, he said, and the student did not have a weapon.
School officials eventually determined there was no threat to students.

They did miss their sixth period class, however, Reed said. He did not immediately return a call for comment.
No charges will be filed against the parent or student, said Jeff Dickerson, a DeKalb County School System spokesman.
