On Thursday, May 5, 2011, Sophia Academy hosted a National Day of Prayer service, joining with millions across America to pray for a variety of needs and concerns across our nation.  The theme of the service was “A Mighty Fortress is our God,” and Pastor Chris Harrington of Morningside Baptist Church shared a message about trusting God as a refuge, no matter the circumstances.  Teachers from each grade offered prayers that covered a range of topics, the Select Chorus sang hymns of praise, and at a designated time, each student brought forth a small stone inscribed with a prayer to place in a basket up front.  Students and parents enjoyed the service sitting in chairs arranged in a cross-shaped formation.  Art and Drama teacher, Mrs. Tracey Buot, organized and led the service.  Afterward, Sophia parents Debbie Williams and Vickie Panos shared testimonies of faith regarding their experiences at Sophia Academy in a special service for parents.
