Sophia Academy Commissions Rain Barrel

On the tails of their 2nd place finish in the state of Georgia Green Cup Challenge, Sophia Academy has commissioned its first rain barrel.

On the tails of their 2nd place finish in the state of Georgia Green Cup Challenge, Sophia Academy has commissioned its first rain barrel.  Project leader and official “Keeper of the Rain Barrel,” Jackson Carter, along with his classmates, decided on a Mark Twain theme to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the author’s passing in tandem with their green initiatives.  The school’s rain barrel will use run-off water from the roof to irrigate an organic garden over fifty feet away.  “This is great.  We had lots of fun with this project,” said 7th grader Jackson Carter.
