Sophia Academy Peer Leaders Display Servant Leadership

Sophia Academy students returned to school this Tuesday, August 23, and a group of Peer Leaders was there to greet them.  The Peer Leader program, implemented by the school's Founding Director, Mrs. Marie Corrigan, accepts 6th-8th grade students who have been nominated for their demonstrated ability to lead and serve.  These students must maintain a certain GPA to continue in this special role.  At the heart of the school is the spirit of servant leadership, and this program teaches and models that concept.

This week, Peer Leaders have served the school by welcoming new students and acclimating them to Sophia Academy.  Each Peer Leader has worn a nametag displaying both their name and the names of their "Peer Kids," students who are new to the school, so as to distinguish themselves as resources for information.

Throughout the school year, Peer Leaders will take on many responsibilities among their peers, particularly during chapel services.
