Sophia Academy Students Recognized at State Capitol for Holocaust Project

On April 20, Mrs. Tracey Buot, Fine Arts Director and select middle school students from Sophia Academy attended the invitation-only State of Georgia “Days of Remembrance” observance at the State Capitol, given by the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust. Sophia Academy students had participated in the Holocaust Learning Trunk project earlier in the school year, in which 5-8th grade students decorated trunks to give to other students throughout the state of Georgia. By using the trunk as an art medium, Sophia Academy students created a physical presence to which students could relate while learning the history and lessons of the Holocaust, World War II, and genocide. At the State Capitol, Sophia Academy students were recognized for the time and talent they devoted to the project that helped it earn its statewide success.
