Sophia Academy is proud to announce that Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Mr. George Bevington, is the recipient of a full scholarship to the 2011 Summer Institute on Teaching the Holocaust, under the aegis of the Breman Museum in Atlanta. The summer institute entails 42 contact hours of lessons, archival research, and eye witness testimony of Holocaust history in Nazi Germany and Europe. Upon completion of the institute and submission of a detailed Holocaust lesson plan, each scholar will earn five professional learning units (PLU’s). Mr. Bevington was honored last year by the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust with the Distinguished Educator of the Year Award for his excellence and creativity in the development and presentation of lessons in the Holocaust.
