Cliff Valley School Hosts Cross Country Meet

More than 30 students in grades six through eight from the school and Intown Community School competed in the Monday event.

Cliff Valley School hosted its first cross country meet on Monday afternoon with more than 30 sixth- to eighth-grader runners from Cliff Valley and Intown Community School, completing a 1.5-mile circuit on the Cliff Valley campus on Clairmont Road.

“While athletics have always been a part of the comprehensive educational experience of our students,” said Cliff Valley Head of School Michael Edwards, “we are excited about adding the competitive element as we have expanded into grades sixth, seventh, and eighth. The opportunity for our middle schoolers to compete against other schools and leagues in cross country, flag football, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, ultimate and soccer will be great preparation for them if they decide to pursue athletics at the high school level and beyond.”

Runners completed three loops of a half-mile course traversing the perimeter of the school's buildings, nature trails and athletic field.
