Lane Picks Up Pair of All-America Honors as Freshman Swimmer

The former Lakeside swimming standout helped Stanford's swim team manage a fourth-place finish in the 400 and fifth in the 200 in the 2012 NCAA Championships.

Former swimming standout Jack Lane finished the 2012 NCAA swim season at Stanford University by capturing a pair of All-America honors in relay competition.

Lane swam the third leg on Stanford's 400 medley relay and 200 medley relay teams in the 2012 NCAA Championships, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in the 400 and fifth in the 200, giving the team All-American status. The 400 medley relay (3:07.32) also captured the Pac-12 championship.

Lane, who won four gold medals (two in 2009, two in 2011) in state swimming competition, set the 13th best time in Stanford history in the 100 butterfly event with a time of 46.88 in 2012.

The freshman also finished 32nd nationally in the 200 butterfly and 29th in the 200 individual medley event. He swam a 1:46.98 to take sixth in the 200 fly during the Pac-12 Championships.

The gold medals in the Georgia Class AAAA/AAA/AA/A State Championships came in the 100 butterfly and 200freestyle as he swept both events in 2009 and 2011. He missed out on an opportunity to take six gold medals home when he missed the 2010 state championships due to illness. His time of 48.72 in the 2011 100 butterfly is the state record and broke his own record of 48.86 set in the 2009 event.
