Championships in Regions 3 and 4 are on the line this weekend as DeKalb teams fight for the No. 1 seeds heading into the 2012 playoffs in two weeks.
Undefeated Peachtree (5-0, 3-0) takes on Columbia (3-1, 2-0) to see who can take that big step towards the Region 3 title and No. 1 seed. Peachtree can sew up the region title with a victory while Columbia could move to within one win of the title by defeating Peachtree.
The Miller Grove Wolverines and Stone Mountain Pirates clash in a 10:30 a.m. game at Hallford Stadium for the opportunity to take control of the Region 4 top spot. Both teams enter the game with identical 3-1 overall and 2-0 region records.
Surging Chapel Hill (3-2, 2-1), off this weekend, awaits Stone Mountain for a regular season finale that will play a big role in determining the final playoff teams from Region 4.
The defending champion Stephenson Jaguars (3-1, 1-1) and the Salem Lions (3-2, 2-1) are set for a win or go home Region 2 playoff determining game on Saturday at Panthersville at 9 a.m. Salem clinches the No. 2 seed out of the region with a victory while Stephenson would have to defeat Renfroe the following week to seal the playoff spot. A loss by Salem and the Lions would need help from Renfroe to make the playoffs.

Stone Mountain (3-1) vs. Miller Grove (3-1), Hallford, 10:30 a.m.

The Bethune Lions remained undefeated in the regular season with a 40-16 victory over the previously unbeaten Champion Chargers to take control of the Region 1 middle school football standings.
Bethune improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 atop the Region 1 standings as they won their 20th consecutive regular season game. The Chargers fell to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the region with games remaining against second place Tucker and Henderson to whom they are currently tied for third in the region.
The Tucker Tigers (2-3, 2-1) moved into second in the Region 1 standings with a 60-0 victory over Sequoyah (0-5, 0-3) and take a week off as they prepare to take on Champion in the final week of the regular season with a playoff berth possibly on the line. Tucker’s Samuel Bryant had a big game against Sequoyah as he ran for two touchdowns, passed for a third and returned a kickoff for fourth touchdown in the game.
Chapel Hill (3-2, 2-1) won its second consecutive Region 4 match up by defeating Freedom 26-6 behind Carl White’s 150 yards rushing and one touchdown in the game.
Josh Campbell also threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Rucker and Johnathan Green added a 45-yard run. The Panther defense also added to the scoring with a fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown. Freedom’s Shadarius Horne carried the ball 17 times for 132yds, 13 broken tackles and 1 TD in a losing effort.
The Panthers take a bye this week and could be in a playoff determining game against Stone Mountain (3-1, 2-0), a 14-7 winner over Druid Hills, the final week of the season.
Peachtree remained undefeated at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 3 with a 35-0 win over McNair (0-5, 0-3). Peachtree faces Columbia (3-1, 2-0), a 16-6 winner over Lithonia, for the top spot in Region 3 this weekend.
Cedar Grove (4-1, 3-0) took control of Region 2 with a 38-14 win over Salem (3-2, 2-1) heading into the open week.
