St. Pius X Weekly Sports Recap: Football Kickoff This Weekend

The fall sports campaign will begin in earnest this week as all but one varsity sport will have seen action by the end of the upcoming Labor Day weekend.  Volleyball opened the season at the No. 2 spot in the AAA scoreatl.com poll, while both cross country teams sit in the top spot of their respective AAA polls by ga.milesplit.com.  Football will open the season this weekend, and ranked No. 5 AAA by the scoreatl.com pollsters.

The volleyball team has gotten off to a quick start, winning eight straight matches.  After splitting the first two matches of the season, the Golden Lions have reeled off wins over Westminster, Wheeler, Lassiter, Northview, Parkview, Peachtree Ridge and Mt. Paran Christian.  St. Pius X (9-2) will meet Chattahoochee and Cambridge at Chattahoochee on Thursday beginning at 5pm.
