TIGER MOUNTAIN VINEYARDS CONGRATS THE ABOMS

One of the really fun and interesting things about being an Abominable with the Seed & Feed is the diversity of its’ fan base.  Band members never know when they’ve ‘hit the right chord’ and struck a new fan!  But it’s always heartwarming to receive letters, e-mails and other communiqués relaying their sentiments – especially when it’s in joy and celebration like this e-mail from one of our big fans from Tiger, GA:

“Dear Abominables,

How could you be 40? You are forever ageless, forever spring, our fresh
beginning —-waking our vineyard buds to another season of nature and new
life.

Everyone, staff and party goers, at Tiger Mountain loves you!

People join our wine club just to get an invitation to our annual “Awakening
the Vines,” a party like no other in the world. And, you, dear Abominables,
ARE the party.

Over a dozen springs, you have played and danced in the May sun and rain.

Some of the more memorable times at Tiger Mountain involved your
bus! There was the one rainy Saturday when Dr. John advised your driver not to drive out into the muddy hayfield to turn around —precisely where he headed. Laughing and singing, you sloshed around in the mud, pushing and shoving, while John went for the tractor. But before he got back, the bus rocked and spun its wheels, and with your combined muscle , came sliding out into the gravel road.

There was another bus incident adding even more drama to the day’s
festivities. We motioned the driver to go right at the barn, but—alas—he went left. Snaking around the narrow curved road between trees and barn, the bus impaled itself on the corner of the barn roof. A few bus windows shattered and glass clinked, but the barn was barely damaged –and the Abominables enjoyed more of an open air trip home!

You have danced around many bonfires too, as we burn the pruned canes
and bid farewell to winter. One blazing fire began to creep into the dry hay
field and a water brigade of party goers had to help put it out. Several times
in early May drizzle, our bonfire turned to thick curls of gray smoke, but
you carried on with such rollicking spirit that our guests barely noticed,
toasting the new vintage as if the sun were forever shining.

So –ooo-ooo, congratulations from all the gang at Tiger Mountain on
your 40th anniversary. You forever shine for us!!”
