Scout Pack Prepares Food Packages for Troops, Gifts for Kids
Cub Scout Pack 577 made packages for troops in Afghanistan and collected toys for Toys for Tots at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday.
Cub Scout Pack 577 put together care packages Saturday for soldiers of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group Shock Trauma Unit, which has been deployed to Afghanistan. The unit includes a scout's father, a Navy doctor. He returns in March 2012.
The scouts, together at , created a box for each Marine in the unit, including granola bars, popcorn, drink mixes, coffee, hot cocoa and macaroni and cheese. The scouts also wrote letters to the troops and a shot a video of the whole effort.
