What's happening in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area this week? Here some of the many events pulled from our Events Calendar.

Lakeside Community Alliance community meeting.
The first of two meetings in November to hear neighborhood input on the pros and cons of cityhood. On Monday, Nov. 4, LCA will hold a meeting at Rehoboth Presbyterian Church at 2729 Lawrenceville Highway, Decatur. The meeting will be from 7 p.m to 8:30 p.m. The meeting is expected to focus on crime issues and how other new cities have addressed crime issues with additional police and code enforcement. Guest speakers will be Dunwoody Chief of Police Billy Grogan and former Dunwoody City Councilman Robert Wittenstein.

West African Drum Class. Central Congregational United Church of Christ, 2676 Clairmont Road NE, Atlanta. Learn the art and rhythm of West African drumming with Amy and Coleen from DrumRise, certified and experienced teachers. Drums are provided: no experience needed. Come for one session or all four weeks. The classes are at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday in November. Cost $15 for each class.

Lakeside Lacrosse Informational Meeting. The Lakeside Lacrosse Club is gearing up for its spring season. The club is open to players in the general Lakeside/Decatur area in grades 8-12.Β  A parent/player informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Lakeside High School cafeteria. Screening of Documentary Film. Lykion ton Ellinidon Atlanta and Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation present the documentary film "SMYRNA: The Destruction of a Cosmopolitan City 1900-1922." 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Introduction by Director Maria Iliou; reception to follow. Advance tickets $8, at the door $12, students $5. All ticket proceeds for scholarships.

Kids' Science Night. Zone of Light Studio, 1174 Zonolite Place NE, Atlanta,Β  6 p.m. Friday. Join Emory University scientists for an evening of hands-on exploration under the microscope. Explore how cells work and how they function in our bodies and other living things. Register online; includes pizza dinner.

Big Band Concert, Dinner. Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Rd NE, Atlanta. Chastain-style, bring a picnic dinner and decorate your table, enjoy an evening of live big band music, dinner and dancing with The Atlanta Seventeen. Seats $7, table for eight $50. Doors open at 6; music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
