Effective parenting. The last of a three-week series on effective parenting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road. The series is inspired by Jim Rogers' book, The Incredible Importance of Effective Parenting. Dinner at 6 p.m. is $8 adults, $5 children, $25 family. Clairmont Presbyterian Fall Festival. From 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, on the Azalea Village lawn of Clairmont Presbyterian Church, 1994 Clairmont Road, Decatur. There will be food, music, pumpkin decorating, a pie-baking contest, and Trunk or Treat.
Friends of Toco Hill Library Book Sale. The event will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26, at the Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library, 1282 McConnell Dr, Decatur. Friday: Friends only, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Join at door.) Open to public 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $5 Bag sale starts at 2 p.m.
Book Sale: Friends of the Northlake- Barbara Loar Library. 10.am.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Northlake-Barbara Loar Library, 3772 LaVista Road, Tucker. There are two programs in addition to the book sale. At 11 a.m., Bob Roarty of Vintage Books will give a talk on "Book Collecting 101." At 3 p.m., geologist, teacher, author Bill Witherspoon, will present "Family Rock Adventures in Metro Atlanta's Parks: Discovering Geology from Stone Mountain to the Chattahoochee Palisades."
