Week Ahead: Dalai Lama Visits Emory, 'The Wizard of Oz' Debuts at Puppetry Center

Dalai Lama Visits EmoryHis Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, Presidential Distinguished Professor at Emory University, will return to Atlanta October 8-10, 2013 for a series of public and campus events, including programs on responsible citizenship, ethics and education. Emory community tickets to the on-campus events will be free and available through a lottery beginning September 1 through this website.

The Wizard of Oz: Celebrate America's rich musical heritage as Dorothy travels down the Yellow Brick Road to find out why the Lion, Tinman and Strawman are all singing the blues at the Center of Puppetry Arts. Show runs Oct. 9-20.

9th Annual Tea Walk: TEA Walk is a massive empowerment walk that's held every year and it stands for Together Empowering Asians. It takes place Saturday at 9 a.m. at 3510 Shallowford Road. 

Annual Trees Atlanta Sale: The 14th Annual Trees Atlanta Tree Sale is the best tree sale in the southeast, featuring over 1,000 plants—including more than 200 species of trees, shrubs, native perennials, and tree-friendly vines. The sale will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. at Trees Atlanta.

Lakeside High School One-Act Play of Midsummer/Jersey: This presentation is by the Lakeside High School One Act Play Team who will compete at Region with this show later this month. Oct. 11 & 12 at 7pm, Box Office opens 6pm, Tickets $5.00
