What's going on locally this weekend? A quick reminder on some events in the area this weekend.

DeKalb Neighborhood Summit 2013.
8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Courtyard Marriott, 130 Clairemont Ave., Decatur. This year's summit brings together residents from across DeKalb County to meet, exchange ideas, learn how to partner with county departments, and celebrate DeKalb County. Participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops, visit exhibits, and network with community leaders.

Healthy Pets DeKalb. Pet owners can attend "Healthy Pets DeKalb" on Saturday, November 16th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Park II, 3643 Glenwood Road in Decatur. The event will offer more than 400 free vaccinations provided by a licensed veterinarian, 200 vouchers for free spay/neuters, free pet food supplied by Pet Buddies Food Pantry, among other services. No registration is necessary for this first-come, first-serve promotion by LifeLine Animal Project and Second Life

W. D. Thomson Park Volunteer Workday. Join volunteers at 2 p.m  Sunday, Nov. 17, to help keep the park -- located at 1760 Mason Mill Road -- healthy, safe and beautiful. They will be clearing trash, trimming and mulching around trails, and removing invasives from the woods and trails. RSVP: FriendsOfThomsonPark@gmail.com
