Lakeside High School One Act Play. The high school's One Act Play Team presents "Midsummer/Jersey" at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18. The play is a "hilarious high-octane re-telling of Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night's Dream" set on the boardwalk of a Seaside town in modern-day New Jersey." Tickets $5 online (plus service fee) or at the door, if available. 

52nd Annual Oak Grove Methodist Men's Barbecue. 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. The long-running barbecue includes a bake sale, used book sale, craft sale, and all-day bluegrass, gospel and Christian praise music. Adult plates $10. Child Plates $6. Takeout or eat-in available. Proceeds benefit 26 different organizations.

Shallowford Presbyterian Church Fall Festival. 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. The church's festival features kids' games and more activities.

Briarlake Elementary Fall Festival. 11 a.m. Saturday. According to the PTA website, the festival will feature games, food, haunted house and crafters market.
