The Georgia Department of Banking and Finance regulates banks, credit unions and trust companies with state charters. It does not regulate all financial services operating in Georgia, but it does have regulatory and licensing authority over mortgage brokers, lenders, processors and originators, money service businesses, international banking organizations and bank holding companies operating in Georgia.

The department's office is located inside a general office building on Brandywine Road very close to Mercer University's Atlanta campus. Access to the building requires coded entry.
