Man Tries to Sell iPod from Apartment, Gets Robbed at Gunpoint

The phone, an iPad and $3,500 in cash were stolen from the apartment.

A man tried to sell his iPhone from his Arbor Hills apartment Jan. 4, but when the buyer arrived, he was carrying a handgun, demanding much more than a smartphone. The 58-year-old victim told DeKalb County police that he placed an ad on craigslist to sell his Apple iPhone 5. The suspect contacted the seller and said he wanted to buy it, the police report said. The victim told the buyer to come to his apartment in the 300 block of Druid Oaks Drive. When the suspect arrived, the victim showed him the iPhone and told him the price. The suspect said he needed to go to an ATM to get more money. Man: I Was Carjacked at Gunpoint in Target Parking Lot

The 34-year-old victim told police he was giving a ride to two other men when they stole his car early Tuesday morning.

A Tucker man said he thought he was shuttling two men between nightclubs early in the morning on New Year's Day but found himself standing in front of Target on North Druid Hills Road after the passengers carjacked him at gunpoint, DeKalb County police said. The 34-year-old victim said two men approached him at an unknown nightclub and asked him to drive them to another club, according to the police report. The man agreed, and, as he was driving them, the men asked him to pull over in front of the Target at the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff roads at about 4 a.m. One of the suspects put his hands over the victim's eyes, put a gun to his neck and demanded everything he had, the report said. Decatur police charged Santonio M. Spratlin, 20, of South Columbia Drive.

Decatur police have filed charges against a 20-year-old man in the armed robbery of the Marathon Gas Station at 527 E. College Ave. A clerk told police a regular customer entered the store about 9:15 p.m. Nov. 26 and asked for a pack of ciagrellos. The clerk reached for the product and when he turned around the man held a small black pistol with a laser sight pointed at the clerk's face. The clerk said the man said, "Give me all your money before I kill you." The clerk emptied the cash register drawer and the man left on foot traveling south on Columbia Drive. Afternoon hold-up foiled as the man runs away.

A man attempted to rob the Piccadilly Restaurant in Tucker on Wednesday afternoon by pointing a gun at staff and demanding money. But then he lost his nerve and ran away. The incident happened when the man entered the restaurant on Crescent Centre Boulevard and threatened workers. He was met with resistance, fled, and remains at large. "He got scared," manager Paul Escarra told Patch. "He was in and out real quick." Escarra described the man as black, about 6 ft. tall, and in his mid-20s. "It's hard to say what he looked like 'cause he was wearing a hoodie and a red bandana over his mouth," he said. He added that no staff or customers were hurt. Man Claims Friend Helped Rob Him at Gunpoint at Motel

The incident occurred at the Motel 6 on Lawrenceville Highway on Sunday evening.

A Massachusetts man told DeKalb County police his friend helped an armed man rob him at a Lawrenceville Highway motel Sunday evening. The 25-year-old victim of Mashpee said he was in his room at the Motel 6 at 2810 Lawrenceville Highway when his friend – a Lithonia man – and an unknown suspect knocked on the front door shortly after 5 p.m., the police report said. The victim let the two in, and his friend asked to borrow $10. The suspect pulled out a black pistol and demanded money from both of them. The suspect took money from the victim's front pants pocket and struck him in the head with the butt of the pistol. Northlake Man Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Apartment

The 37-year-old victim lost about $6,100 in the robbery.

A Northlake man was robbed of several thousand dollars at gunpoint as he left his apartment Friday, DeKalb County police said. The man, 37, was walking toward his vehicle on the parking deck of The Ava apartment complex in the 2200 block of Parklake Drive when he was approached from behind by a man pointing a black 9mm handgun at him at about 9:30 p.m., the police report said. "Give me all of your [stuff]," the robber said. The suspect took a cash desposit bag with $6,100 in it – the man owns a nearby gas station – a cell phone, car keys, house keys and the station's keys. Man Held at Gunpoint, Beaten and Robbed

Police planning charges of simple battery, armed robbery and false imprisonment in the Monday incident, which occurred in Tucker east of North Druid Hills.

A shirtless man jumped into the back seat of a car that was stopped in traffic and put a gun to the driver's head Monday afternoon, DeKalb County police said. The man driving the car was then forced to go to an apartment where he was beaten, stripped, and robbed, the police report said. The incident began on Montreal Road in Tucker, just east of North Druid Hills. Brandon Hollar, the driver, was told to drive to an apartment complex on Memorial College Avenue in Clarkston, where his attacker and three accomplices - another man and two women - made him take off his clothes to prevent him from escaping. Man robbed at gunpoint on Buford Highway An Atlanta man was robbed at gunpoint while walking home along Buford Highway early Monday morning, DeKalb County police said. Men Robbed Outside Executive Park Hotel at Gunpoint

Two men staying at the Courtyard Marriott were robbed in the hotel parking lot early Saturday morning.

Two South Carolina men said they were robbed outside an Executive Park hotel at gunpoint early Saturday morning, according to DeKalb County police.  The men, 28 and 26 years old, were staying at the Courtyard Marriott hotel at 1236 Executive Park Drive when they walked to their car in the parking lot to get some personal items at about 4:40am, the police report said.  A first suspect approached them and asked one of the men for a cigarette, attempting to make conversation. I sincerely doubt the hotel pays for security. Even if they did, this occurred outside of the building and I can't imagine they'd incur the cost of that kind security. I've stayed in many hotels throughout the country and I don't believe most offer much in the way of security.   more ›
