'Mirror Mirror' Reflects Some Pleasant Surprises

A familiar fairy tale gets a new look with a fresh new story line, great young actors and an evil Julia Roberts you'll love to hate.

It's more than just a remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Sure, the evil queen banishes her stepdaughter to the woods to avoid the attention of Prince Charming. Don't expect the same outcome in Mirror Mirror. Julia Roberts is well-suited to play the evil queen. Lily Collins plays the role of Snow White, and Armie Hammer is, of course, the Prince. A great supporting cast around these three makes this a film for young and old to enjoy. Adopted by a group of rebellious but kind dwarfs, Snow White transforms into a brave young woman, determined to save her country from the queen. With the support and commitment of new friends, Snow White reclaims her birthright and wins back her Prince… with a few twists. The movie is fun to watch. The …

'J. Edgar': Good Guy or Bad Guy?

Leonardo DiCaprio portrays the man who led the FBI for decades.

He ruled the Federal Bureau of Investigation for decades, nosing around in the private lives of his enemies and friends. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in a Clint Eastwood directed film about the secret life of one of the most powerful men in the United States in the last century – J. Edgar Hoover. J. Edgar focuses on those closest to Hoover: mother Annie Hoover (Judi Dench), secretary Helen Gandy (Naomi Watts) and FBI associate director and Hoover companion Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer). DiCaprio as an aging Hoover was a stretch at times. I had a hard time buying the 37-year-old DiCaprio as the old J. Edgar. That aside, the movie does a great job revealing the top cop's obsession with commies and radicals. The movie also portrays Hoover as a man …
