A few years ago a student gang broke in a third floor window and stole a bunch of things, including a sword from our house. They knew they only about 20 minutes before the police would arrive, so they left. They came back the next day, but I took the other sword to work with me. And my wife took all of her jewelry. I am an older lady and keep my door locked. I lock it behind me when I go out and again when I enter. I have a big dog and a Remington 12 gauge and I know how to use it. These older ladies need to wake up and smell the coffee. The world is a very different place from what we grew up in. And yes, do check on our elderly neighbors. I have an 83 year old friend and we have an agreement. She calls me…   more ›

But when he woke up in the middle of the night Dec. 3 and found a burglar in the living room stealing the flat-screen television, "I flipped out," Kennerly said. "I went ape mode." "He was a little bigger than me and in good shape," Kennerly said. "The only thing he said was shut up. He hit me with the TV." Kennerly said he may have gone down, but he's not sure because everything happened so fast. The man ran down the hallway to the front door. "I ran after him and threw him off the front porch," Kennerly …
