Crime Blotter, May 31-June 6

A selection of recent crimes in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area reported to DeKalb County police.

Two men robbed at gunpoint on Buford Highway Two men walking down Buford Highway were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning, DeKalb County police said. The victims, a 27-year-old and a 19-year-old, were walking south in the highway's 3200 block when they were approached by three suspects shortly after midnight, the police report said. The first suspect pushed the barrel of his gun into the 27-year-old's stomach and said, "Give me your money or I will kill you," and pointed the gun at his face.  The victim gave the suspect $30. A second suspect pointed a white gun at the 19-year-old victim, and he handed over his cell phone and $30. The suspects fled as an arriving officer witnessed the incident. A selection of crimes reported to DeKalb County police over the last week.

Police: Man tried to steal car, two dozen Polo shirts at Macy's An Atlanta man was charged May 19 with trying to steal two dozen Polo shirts from Macy's in Northlake and then a car from store's lot later, DeKalb County police said. The suspect, 47-year-old James Leonard who lives on Buford Highway, was seen walking out of the store with the shirts at about 1:30pm, the police report said. Outside, witnesses said Leonard pushed down a woman walking toward the store and grabbed her car keys. But he was confronted by two men as he tried to open the woman's car door, and one of them restrained him until police arrived. A selection of crimes in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff community reported to DeKalb County police in the last week.

Nearly $5K in computers, jewelry stolen from Northlake home Nearly $5,000 in electronics and jewelry was stolen from a Northlake home Tuesday, DeKalb County police said. The 74-year-old victim who lives in the 3100 block of Kings Arms Court left his home at about 9:20am, the police report said. When he returned home shortly after 4pm, he found the garage door open. A basement door was forced open and damaged. Several bedrooms in the house were ransacked, and several items were missing: an Apple desktop computer, a Dell laptop, a television, a $300 coin collection and about $1,000 in jewelry. Car Break-Ins After Lakeside's Prom?

The North Briarcliff Civic Association reported to residents that a car break-in there was one of several following the school's prom night.

Not sure how the two could be connected, but the North Briarcliff Civic Association sent a note out to residents about a car break-in on at Tristan Circle and Galahad Drive on Sunday morning after Lakeside High School's prom. It should be noted that prom was held at Thalia N. Carlos Hellenic Community Center on Saturday night. From the email: On Sunday, May 6, 2012, between the hours of  1:30AM-10:00AM our SUV's window was broken and they stole the GPS and coin holder (both hidden in closed compartment). Police reported that they had many similar calls after Lakeside's Prom Night. On Frazier Road they also entered 2 vehicles at the same house and stole all valuables inside. Police impersonators rob man at Huntington Creek Apartments A Huntington Creek resident was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects who falsely identified themselves as police Sept. 3, DeKalb County police said. At about 9:00pm, the victim was approached out of the dark by two suspects, one of whom said, “We are the police,” and pointed a handgun at him as the other went through his pockets and took his wallet. The second suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray before the suspects fled on foot. The victim was delayed slightly in calling police because he had to go wash his eyes.
