Shallowford Publix Worker Carjacked at Gunpoint

The incident occurred in the supermarket's parking lot April 28.

An employee of Publix on Shallowford Road was carjacked at gunpoint in the supermarket's parking lot April 28, DeKalb County police said. The 21-year-old victim was sitting in his car, getting ready to start his shift at the store when he noticed the first suspect walking around his vehicle at about 10:30am, the police report said. The suspect tapped the driver's side window with a black, semi-automatic handgun and said, "Hand me the keys." The victim told police he opened the door and handed the suspect the keys. He got out of the car and began walking toward the supermarket when the suspect also asked for his cell phone as well. Briarcliff Village Boosts Security After Carjacking

The shopping center plans to hire off-duty police officers to make the area safer between 7pm and midnight, according to the North Briarcliff Civic Association.

Briarcliff Village is boosting security at the shopping center following news of a carjacking last week that spread through the Briarcliff community, the North Briarcliff Civic Association said. From a note sent out by the association to residents: Following the recent carjacking incident, Briarcliff Village's property management company contacted the DeKalb police and was granted permission to increase off-duty police presence during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to Midnight. There will now be 1-2 officers on foot at the shopping center every day. Association: Woman Carjacked in Briarcliff Village Last Week

The victim was carjacked in the parking lot Wednesday afternoon after leaving Party City, according to the North Briarcliff Community Association.

This somehow slipped through my gaze last week: A woman was carjacked in Briarcliff Village on Wednesday afternoon after she left Party City. The North Briarcliff Civic Association sent out an alert to residents offering a few details about the crime and some tips to stay safe: As you may have heard, an Evansdale staff member was carjacked Wednesday afternoon in the Briarcliff Village parking lot after shopping at Party City for the Pink Pajama Jam.  She is okay but very shaken as you can imagine.  It seems as if we are entering into our holiday crime pattern early this year.  Please spread the word to your neighborhood watch leaders, friends, and neighbors to let folks know to be extra cautious when out shopping. Safe and coins burgled from Tanglewood Road A grey padlocked safe and a collection of coins totaling $2,000 in value were stolen from a house in the 2500 block of Tanglewood Road Aug. 30, DeKalb County police said. The victim said he left his house secured at 1:30pm and returned at 5:15pm to find his back door forced open, and the safe and coins were gone. There were no witnesses or descriptions of suspects. Woman Carjacked in Apartment Complex Off DeKalb Industrial

Two armed robbers struck a woman in Carriage Place Apartments and drove off with her vehicle Sunday morning.

Two armed robbers struck a woman parked in Carriage Place Apartments and drove off with her car Sunday morning, DeKalb County police said. The 52-year-old victim told police she had just returned from praying and was parked at 1107 Carriage Place Ct. off DeKalb Industrial Highway at about 5:45am, the police report said. Two men approached the driver's side of her vehicle, and one of the suspects pointed a gun in her face and demanded money. When the woman told them she had no money, the suspect hit her on the left side of her face with the gun. Maybe we need a few more police patroling some of the nicer neighborhoods. I live in the area where some of these crimes were commited and I seldom ever see any law enforcement vehicles. Woman, Sons Carjacked at Gunpoint Near North DeKalb Mall

The early Saturday morning carjacking occurred at 2900 block of Cedar Creek Parkway.

A woman and her two sons were carjacked near North DeKalb Mall early Sunday morning, DeKalb County police said. The woman was driving a rental car in the 2900 block of Cedar Creek Parkway to visit her sister's apartment at about 2:50am, according to the police report. As she entered the apartment complex, she noticed two men in a silver vehicle pass her. She parked the car in front of her sister's building, and when she stepped out of the car, one of the men she noticed approached her with a handgun, the report said. "Give me the money, and keep your head down," the man said to her. The woman gave the man her purse, and the suspect ran to the silver vehicle to drop off the purse with the second suspect.
