Thumbprint Cookies: Easy to Make, Even Easier to Eat

These kid-friendly cookies are basically thumbprint cookies with a twist. Easy to make and delightful to eat. Enjoy.

Whisk together flour and the salt. Beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until very pale and fluffy, about 4 minutes, then beat in egg and vanilla. At low speed, mix in flour mixture in 3 batches just until a dough forms. Divide dough in half and form each piece into a 6-inch disk, then chill, wrapped in plastic wrap, until firm, about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F with rack in middle. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll 3 separate level teaspoons of dough each into a ball, then flatten each ball slightly (to 1 inch wide and less than 1/2 inch thick). Here is a list of various Christmas church services happening in the area.

Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year, so many churches in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area will focus on services on Dec. 23 or Christmas Eve, although some have special events slated for Christmas Day. Here's a rundown of Christmas events at area churches: Briarcliff Baptist Church will hold a Christmas Eve communion service at 5:30 p.m. Briarcliff United Methodist Church will have a family Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m. including an interactive reading of the Christmas story. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), a popular way to celebrate the holidays is to invite friends and family to a buffet. To ensure holiday parties run smoothly, here are some suggestions to keep foods safe on a buffet. As you host holiday buffets, it is important to be extra careful to keep foods safe from harmful microorganisms. There are four things you should remember during these festive times: Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill: It is also important to keep foods safe on a buffet by maintaining the proper temperature. Hot foods should be held at 140°F or above and cold foods should be at 40°F or below.
