"At least 20 new businesses" are set to open in the Church Street shopping center by the end of the year, according to Decatur Dispatch.
Patel Brothers, the Indian grocery in Patel Plaza, is in the middle of an expansion to their Church Street shopping center that could see 20 new businesses by the end of the year, according to Decatur Dispatch. The report, which isn't available online, said construction of a new two-story building is underway, and the second story would be dedicated to healthcare businesses. Rakesh Patel, one of the Patel brothers, also told the publication it's considering purchasing an adjacent automotive dealership lot to build an adult living community that would help feed the shopping center as well. With just a weekend standing between students and back to school, dozens of volunteers gathered at Lakeside Friday to organize everything that has been packed away during construction. Construction will continue throughout the school year.
Back to school is just a weekend away for Lakeside High School students. With three days to go, it's time to pack up the swimsuits and stock up on notebooks. Construction continues on the new additions to the school, which will include 25 additional classrooms, a fine arts center, technology upgrades and other space expansions. Yet throughout the construction, students will still have to learn in the building. A couple dozen students, faculty and parents have taken it upon themselves to get the school in back to school shape. Volunteers organized packed up library books and helped sort through boxes that had been put away for the summer during construction.
