What's Up With Extended Stay America Hotel?

The Clairmont Road hotel has had a few... issues, apparently.

Last week, we told you about an unfortunate incident where two women looking for – ahem – a date were robbed at gunpoint at the Extended Stay America Hotel on Clairmont Road. Shortly after the story was published to the site, a reader reminded us of an incident that occurred at the hotel in 2010. From a story about it in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about a group of businessmen who stayed in the hotel in September 2010 (and keep in mind, this is after two of them were bitten by bedbugs):  The group traveled from Pennsylvania to Georgia Friday night. Two Women Looking for Date Robbed at Gunpoint

The women met up at a Clairmont Road hotel late Wednesday night with a man they said they met on QuestChat, a website to meet singles. Then he robbed them.

Two women who said they were looking to hide out from the rain with a date at their Clairmont Road hotel room Wednesday found themselves staring down the barrel of a handgun instead, DeKalb County police said. The women, an 18-year-old from Lithonia and a 20-year-old from Rochester, NY, told police they met a man through QuestChat, an online local singles website, according to the police report. They were staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel at 3115 Clairmont Rd. and told the man to meet them at their room. The man arrived at about 11pm, and the 20-year-old went dowstairs to let him in the building, the police report said. When he got upstairs, the man asked the 18-year-old, "Are ya'll in this room by yourself?" and "Ya'll not trying…

Perhaps. I'm not sure you can separate the two that easily though. Does a hotel not shoulder at least some responsibility for the actions of its customers?   more ›
