An Atlanta man told DeKalb County police two gang members robbed him at gunpoint near Huntington Station Apartments on April 30. The 22-year-old victim was in a nearby store with the first suspect buying a drink at about 8:30pm, the police report said. The suspect told the victim that he wanted to buy his cell phone for $100 and then asked the victim to walk with him through the woods to his apartment so he could get the money. When they emerged from the woods behind Huntington Station, 2560 New Bedford Way, the suspect's brother was there to meet them, the report said. DeKalb Police officials told a Northlake crowd that the best crime prevention advice is to be vigilant and call police when they observe suspicious activity.
Forget Batman. A nosy neighbor is your neighborhood's most effective crime fighter, DeKalb Police told a Northlake crowd Thursday night. Nosy neighbors, trimming shrubbery, recordings of barking dogs were among the unusual crime prevention tips offered by members of the DeKalb County Police Department at a town hall meeting held at Henderson Mill Elementary School that was hosted by the Northlake Community Alliance and state Rep. County law enforcement officials said Thursday gangs aren't a problem in Northlake, but they are in suburban Georgia.
Although there are national and Georgia-wide gang problems, few are specific to the Northlake area, DeKalb County law enforcement officials said Thursday. The biggest problems in the Northlake area are related to burglary and entering auto, according to Major L. Higdon with the DeKalb County Police Department. The central precinct, which includes Northlake, has the lowest number of crimes in the county, he said. Detective Sgt.
