Popular in the 1950s and 1960s, these iconic American homes are all the rage again.
Ranch houses may not be sexy and they haven’t been on the cutting edge of American architecture for 50 years. But they are located throughout Atlanta’s suburbs and they are the most common house type in some North Druid Hills subdivisions. Despite being icons of the post-World-War II housing boom, they remain popular homes among all age groups. Having worked in the N Druid Hills area for a real estate law firm, a real estate agency and for the past 8 years as an insurance representative, I am familiar with many of these homes. I personally lived in a split-level ranch in the Laurel Ridge neighborhood at one time. The original pink oven sold me and the day it died was an unhappy day.
