DeKalb County Accepting 'Camp Superstars' Summer Camp Registration

The summer camp for kids between 5 and 15 years old runs from June 3 to Aug. 2.

DeKalb County's Camp Superstars summer camp registration is now open at 12 recreation centers excluding the N.H. Scott Recreation Center due to renovations. That includes Mason Mill and Briarwood Park rec centers. Camp Superstars is the hot spot for kids during the summer. To embark on the total summer camp experience, parents and kids need to look no further than their local recreation center. Camp Superstars is a summer day camp for ages 5-15 and begins June 3 to Aug. 2 from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at a charge of $55 per week. Breakfast and lunch are provided. County to Hold Winter Break Day Camp at Local Rec Centers

The camps will be held Dec. 24-31.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs will hold Winter Break Day Camp, Dec. 24-31 and Jan. 2-7, 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at all 13 recreation centers, including Briarwood and Mason Mill. Camp will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas Holiday and New Year’s Day. To embark on the total winter break camp experience, look no further than your local recreation center! Winter Break Day Camp is a camp for ages 5 -12 and will be held Monday through Friday at a charge of $6 per day. Registration will begin Dec. 17-21 and all payments should be made to DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs by cashier’s check or money order. Participants must provide their own lunch and snack.

Camp 'Funtastic' Summer Camp Registration on Feb. 18

The camp is for children 14 and older with mild to moderate disabilities. It costs $90 per week.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold Camp "Funtastic" summer camp registration on Saturday, Feb. 18, at all recreation centers. Camp "Funtastic" is a summer day camp designed and staffed especially for children ages 14 and older with mild to moderate disabilities. Summer camp will be held June 11 to Aug. 3 from 7am - 5pm, Mon - Fri, at a charge of $90 per week. Participants must bring their own breakfast and lunch. Put Your Spare Shoes to Good Use

DeKalb County is collecting shoes in good condition through Feb. 29 for Soles4Souls, a charity. North Druid Hills residents can drop them off at Mason Mill Center.

Got a spare pair of shoes you don't need? Let someone put them to good use. DeKalb County is collecting shoes in good condition for Soles4Souls, a Tennessee-based charity that collects shoes and gives them to people in need across the world. It collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of individuals. Once shoes are gathered, they are distributed to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class or other criteria. Soles4Souls has delivered more than 16 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes across the world since 2005. All types and sizes of shoes in good condition will be accepted.
