Neighbors of the North Briarcliff Civic Association gathered for the 2011 National Night Out.
The North Briarcliff Civic Association hosted a 2011 National Night Out event. Neighbors gathered at Shallowford Presbyterian Tuesday night for a host of safety tips from county officials. The nationwide effort is held the first Tuesday of August each year and is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. It also seeks to generate support for local anti-crime programs and strengthen police-community partnerships. Find more pictures from the Briarcliff event here.

Neighbors gathered at Shallowford Presbyterian Church for a potluck and safety tips from county officials, as part of a nationwide effort to increase neighborhood lookouts.
Neighbors of the Brookdale/Foster Ridge and Overlook areas came together to support a national event Tuesday. National Night Out is a nationwide program that brings people together in support of safer communities. Neighbors gathered at Shallowford Presbyterian Church for a potluck and were given safety tips from county officials. This gathering was sponsored by the Brookdale/Foster Ridge/Overlook Neighborhood Watch Program in conjunction with the DeKalb County Police Department.
The national event was created to strengthen the bond between communities and law enforcement.
The North Briarcliff Civic Association will take part in tonight's National Night Out, a nationwide event created to strengthen the bond between communities and local law enforcement. The event will be held in Shallowford Presbyterian Church from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. It is sponsored by the Brookdale/Foster Ridge/Overlook Neighborhood Watch Program. The DeKalb County Police Department's North Precinct, which serves the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area, now has a growing presence on Facebook and Twitter. At the time of publication of this article, the precinct's Facebook page reached 72 likes, or the number of Facebook users who added the page to their list of favorite pages. The page features the North Precinct's supervisor of the month, a photo of what appears to be the confiscation of an illegal firearm and drugs and an announcement highlighting National Night Out.
