A selection of crimes in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area reported to DeKalb County police over the last week.

North Decatur beauty supply store burgled Someone broke into Golden Beauty Supply in North Decatur and stole thousands of dollars of wigs and other beauty products sometime before Tuesday morning, DeKalb County police said. The store's owner called police after he arrived at the store on North Decatur Road shortly before 5:40 a.m., the police report said. The responding officer noted that the front glass window had been shattered with a big rock. A glass display case was also broken. More than 30 wigs worth more than $4,000 and $500 worth of electric clippers were stolen. School's Out, So Boy Shoplifts at Target

A 13-year-old boy admitted to police on Sunday that he's stolen from the store four times since the last day of school.

A 13-year-old boy arrested for shoplifting at Target in North Druid Hills on Sunday told DeKalb County police he's stolen from the store four times since the end of the school year.  A store employee called police after he noticed a young boy removing items from shelves and placing them inside his bookbag around 2pm, the police report said. He was grabbed by the store's loss prevention worker and interviewed, and he said he'd stolen from the store previously. A responding police officer found several pairs of earrings and other jewelry in the boy's shorts, and he was wearing two necklaces he admitted to stealing. He also had two pairs of stolen shoes and a hat in his bookbag. The boy was arrested and taken to the county's juvenile …

Would You Steal Medication if You Needed It?

A local man stole $160 worth of Lipitor on April 27 after a complaint over payment with a clerk at Walgreens in Oak Grove.

If you didn't have the money to pay for medication you needed, could you ever come to the point where you'd steal it? Something similar occurred in Oak Grove on April 27. A 52-year-old man from the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area walked into Walgreens at 2781 Lavista Rd. and tried to fill a Lipitor prescription, DeKalb County police said. But when it came time to pay, the man and the pharmacist began arguing over a $25 coupon for the medication. The man asked to see the medication, and when the pharmacist went to help another customer, the man was gone, the police report said.  The medication is worth about $160, but because he had health insurance, the suspect was only required to pay a $42 copay. Teens caught playing with gun, drinking at playground A 17-year-old and a Sequoyah Middle School student were caught handling a handgun and drinking in an apartment complex playground Monday afternoon, DeKalb County police said. A police officer responded to The Villas at Druid Hills apartment complex, 3183 Buford Highway, following a call regarding suspicious persons at the playground at about 12:10pm, the police report said. When the officer arrived, he noticed two teens who fit the descriptions in the call walking toward the playground's gate after leaving the deck. The officer questioned the teens.
