Northlake Mall welcomed a new Best Buy Mobile store Wednesday and plans to open four other stores soon. The mall announced the following Wednesday: Encore by Shoe Department, the popular accessories store carrying shopper favorite brands like Nike, New Balance and Timberland, is expanding into a fully renovated 17,900 square foot storefront. This is the only Encore store in Georgia, and it is located on the lower level next to Perfumania. The thief took $500 when he fled shortly before 7pm yesterday, according to DeKalb County police.
An armed robber stole $500 from a Subway restaurant in Oak Grove yesterday evening, DeKalb County police said. The suspect walked into the sandwich shop at 2858 Lavista Rd. at about 6:15pm with a bandanna across his face and pointed a gun at a shop employee and demanded he open the register, according to a police report. When the employee told the robber he didn't have the key for the register, the robber took $500 in cash that was sitting on top of the safe under the counter. The robber forced the employee to the rear of the store, demanding that he get in the freezer. When the employee refused, he told the employee to sit on a chair in the back.
