The top five stories from the previous week in North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch.

Association: More County Officers Coming to North Druid Hills Area: It'll be interesting to see if this makes a difference in crime stats around here. Loehmann's Plaza Looking for Grocery Store?: Everybody wants Trader Joe's, it seems. DeKalb Delegation to Hold Public Cityhood Meeting Next Month: Will be an interesting meeting for sure. Unless the delegation just offers a bunch of information we've all heard before. Lakeside Grad to Fight Again for U.S. Kayaking Competition Spot: We'll have an update on this Monday. The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week in North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch.

Lakeside City Alliance Raises $2K at Oak Grove Event: So far, the alliance has raised about $10,000 or a third of its goal. A lot of people commented on this story. (Or a number of people wrote many comments.) Federal Audit Blames Mismanagement for Three Atlanta VA Patient Deaths: All credit due to local TV and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for covering this story. It'll be interesting to see what comes of all this. Emory University Investigating Respected Professor's Fake Identity: I'll admit I thought this was a fairly insidery story without much reach into the general public. But this story got a whole lot of press, which surprised me. We'll see what Emory does. Crews Repairing North Druid Hills Gas Main Break: This plus the gas main…

The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week in North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch.

Sen. Millar: Only Lakeside Cityhood Bill Will Move Forward: Millar didn't say anything many people are already thinking, but it was worth noting on the site. And it sparked a heck of a lot of discussion. Lakeside City Alliance Reschedules Fundraiser: Probably not the end of he-said-she-said politics in this cityhood circus, but the fundraiser pseudo-scandal seems to have cooled. Demetri Martin Stops By Eagle Eye Book Shop: The most beloved bookshop in the area lures another big name. Check out some of the photos. Capozzi's Restaurant Changing Owners: As long as the penne bolognese doesn't change, we could care less. Memorial Ride for Cyclist May 5 in Decatur: Sure to be a well-attended and memorable event.

Oak Grove Business Owners, Residents to Protest County Proposal: We'll check this out Tuesday to see what's up in greater detail. Carter Files 'City of Lavista Hills' Bill: Yet another story we will be updating this week in search of more detail. New Chief: Police Must Do Everything to Decrease Crime: I got the impression not a whole lot of people checked this out, but it's worth to see the new police chief's take on his short time in the county so far. Lakeside Alliance's Cityhood Bill Delayed: Make sure you click through to the other alliance story from earlier in the week. (It's linked the story.) DISCUSS: What About a City of Briarcliff?: The North Druid Hills Study Group released a possible city map that's even bigger than the Lakeside City Alliance's though it excludes Tucker and heads south toward Decatur and Atlanta proper. Selig: Lawsuit Will Delay Walmart Construction: Not a huge surprise, but it'll be interesting to see where this thing heads. More to come. Tucker Civic Association Releases Statement Regarding Cityhood: We wonder if this will set the tone for Monday's alliance meeting at Tucker Middle School. County Creating New Park Off Briarcliff Road: Part of the county's continued efforts to get more greenspace in District 2. Ellis: Continued Incorporation May Harm Critical County Services: This very basic story is just a take on what the county thinks about incorporation. The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week from North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch.

Lakeside Alliance: Cityhood Bill Coming 'Very Soon': This bill could easily set this area on the road to a vote for cityhood by fall 2014. What do you think? New Lakeside Cityhood Map Includes Sagamore Hills, Leafmore: Big news. A big expansion of the city. Holcomb: Current Cityhood Process Not the Best Approach: Interesting point of view from one of our more involved state legislators. New Cities Could Form Their Own School Systems Under Proposed Law: Could legislation like this make its way through the State House? Could our area eventually have its own school district? Is that a good idea? DeKalb Police Investigating Buford Highway Homicide: This went unreported for a week because (I think) the victim died after police arrived at the …
