@ rwf - figured out what you were saying. You have to log into Scribd, download the .pdf. Sounds easy enough, but it's not exactly intuitive for most folks, though I am embarrassed I didn't figure it out sooner.

@ rwf - I've searched the CoTIB and can only find this (link below), which is just slightly higher resolution. Still, nowhere near high enough to read even major street names. It's very possible I've overlooked the correct link. Do you have a better one?

ReplyWhy can't people post maps that can be read? (Jonathan, I know this isn't your fault) Yes, it is a big file, but unless you're on your phone, most of us can handle a big file here and there. I hate that I cannot drill down and see the borders clearly. This map looks like a color-by-numbers painting done by a seven year old. You kids get off my lawn!

Wow. I. am. impressed. I don't think I've ever seen so many conspiracy theories, keywords, and acronyms in one post in, well, ever... You may want to read this article: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=why-people-believe-conspiracy-theoies, but then either I'm just another sheeple or maybe I'm part of the Illuminati.

ReplyHow many times have I driven down NDH and through the Toco Hills shopping center and thought to myself "We could really use another bank..."? Oh right, never! Seriously, how can they justify another brick & mortar bank? I suppose they've done market analysis and I'm sure they'll be profitable, but really? Another bank? Maybe they'll do something about the lack of traffic control in this parking lot. That lot seriously reminds me of driving in 3rd world nations without the cows and street vendors.

Reply@Betsy Parks - No, I have no idea where the initial idea of converting it to a park came from, I do know that conservation easements can be useful under certain circumstances, especially when the owners are predisposed to parks and/or conservation. Having worked for the DNR in a past career, I suspect that that sometimes these parks must be labeled as conservation parks in order to comply with the law providing tax relief when land is converted for public use. Of course I could be totally mistaken, but I do know that some of the original State Conservation Parks (Panola & Sweetwater) had that stipulation in their charters. Both of these parks were large enough to accomodate a 'day use' area for activities like you describe, with the vast majority of the park dedicated to conservation (limited access trails, etc...).
My chief concern here is the size of this park. While some park is better than no park, 1.7 acres is hardly big enough for a few picnic tables or one shelter. Additionally, the terrain of the park doesn't seem to lend itself to much more than that.

Reply@ Ashley Feddern - Really? Sounds like family troubles to me... Surely if they were 'not associated with their brand' Athens Pizza would have done something about as soon as they opened and not 10 or so years later. Sad about the Kitsch'n 155 place closing though. Seems like the restaurant business is a very tough one. How do places like Petite Auberge stay in business for 30+ years while this one goes under? Thanks for the info.

ReplyArby's should buy the property back and re-open an Arby's there. Wishful thinking... (Why did Athen's pizza move out?)

This is news to people? We've had Coyotes here in our neighborhoods now for at least five or six years. Thought everyone knew that now. Outdoor cats are have been #1 on their dinner menu for that long. My neighbor lost one, my Mom lost one in Decatur. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you are an ecosystem type, which is fine) they appear to be here to stay. Nothing to see here, move along...
