Hometown: Decatur, GA
Birthday: Dec. 13
Bio: I was born and raised right here in Decatur by parents who moved to Georgia in the late 70s to escape the cold winters of their native Ohio. I graduated from Druid Hills High School in 2007 and served for two years on the staff of their newspaper, The Spotlight, including a year as co-editor in chief. I am now in my final semester at Georgia State University, where I'm studying print journalism and work at their newspaper, The Signal, as a copy editor and occasional contributor. I have also interned twice (summer 2010 and spring 2011) with Creative Loafing Atlanta. I started with Patch in April 2011.
I enjoy many things, including eating lots of different kinds of food, discovering fun new things about my community, watching perhaps way too much TV (a few favorites: Community, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Conan, Top Gear, The West Wing and Doctor Who) and, like my editor, ice hockey (I'm primarily a Boston Bruins fan after the sad, untimely departure of the Atlanta Thrashers).
I especially enjoy learning and writing about education. This could be because my mother, Paula Harger, is a teacher at Shamrock/Druid Hills Middle.
