If the value of your home does not go up because of higher end homes being built around it and your property taxes do you need to appeal your taxes. Property taxes are based on the market value. If the county doesn't get it right and you do nothing to point that out, that's your fault. The fact is the higher end homes are going to pay more property taxes, which will bring improvements to your neighborhood. A lot of times you can even get the developers to make improvements while they are building, such as sidewalk improvements. I understand that it is uncomfortable to live in a changing area. However, change is a fact of life. You will be much better off in the long run if you work with the process and get good things from it.

ReplyI agree Tom L., the level of oblivion in MMO's statement is EXTREMELY frightening. So happy she feels safe in her environment. I do not! I'm not blaming that on the police department. I don't really know who to blame. I just know there is alot of crime around here and it hasn't always been this way.
Is MMO happy with the business environment in Dekalb County? If it's so great, why are businesses moving out of Dekalb County? Has MMO visited the Northlake area lately? Someone needs to get serious about the state of Northlake Mall & Northlake Festival. We are a very convenient spot in the metro area. This area should be thriving. Instead we have one no name store after another opening in Northlake Mall. And Northlake Festival is at least half empty.
Is MMO happy with constant Dekalb County investigations into actions of it's public officials? Dekalb County used to be the place people came to in order to escape this kind of govenment.

ReplyThe last 5 years have been spent dismantling the measures that were keeping us safe. So, no surprise that we have another event. But still very sad.

The process of "asking" what people want is going on right now. Some people just can't voice their opinions without being ugly and insulting to those who may not agree with them.

ReplyI guess these type situations can't avoid getting ugly. I don't know what prompted the original accusation. But I do know that I used to be a member of TTT. When this issue of Lakeside Cityhood came up it began to get mean on that page. I left it. I used to think that if I were going to be a part of a city in this area I would want it to include Tucker because politically speaking, it is a more conservative area. Have to say, after seeing some of the actions on that page I reconsidered. If those people want to remain part of unincorporated Dekalb, I say they deserve what they get.

ReplyI have one complaint, why didn't they go all the way to Lavista. Parts of Briarcliff in front of Northlake Mall are horrible. Constant pothole filing. I busted one tire in that area a few years ago. I am sure I'm not the only one who has.

If this is true, this would definitely not be the norm. You can ask any real estate agent.
