Atlanta VA Director: No Firings Needed Following Patient Deaths

Hospital Director Leslie Wiggins held a press conference with local media Thursday.

The Atlanta VA Medical Center's director said Thursday no firings are necessary following a recent federal report that exposed a number of serious issues at the hospital, including possibly preventable patient deaths.

Director Leslie Wiggins held a news conference to address the media, according to cbsatlanta.com.

However, the most alarming finding by investigators was several patient deaths, including two suicides, that may have been prevented.

"I cannot say that I think anyone should be fired," said Wiggins. She noted two hospital employees have been reprimanded, and that further action could be taken.

"The organization is taking the whole matter very seriously," said Wiggins.
