Lakeside High Lacrosse Takes the Field in 2012

Lakeside High is getting a lacrosse team starting in Spring 2012 and wants to use the team as a jumping-off point for more teams and players in the area.

Beginning in Spring 2012, Lakeside High School will field lacrosse teams at both the varsity and junior varsity level.

The Lakeside Lacrosse teams will be open to all Lakeside students, area eighth graders and high schoolers from schools without their own teams. Junior varsity will be for players who are new to the sport and varsity will be for players who have prior experience, but all interested players are welcome regardless of skill level or economic situation. The team can even help provide equipment to players for a small deposit fee on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone who wants to play and wear the uniforms must pay the dues, which are $250 each, and join US Lacrosse for insurance purposes. The club receives no financial support from Lakeside or DeKalb County Schools, so dues are a necessity and they will take donations from the public as well via PayPal. There is also a fundraising link on their website that focuses on magazine subscriptions and renewals.

Lakeside Lacrosse hopes to use this new team as a springboard to start more youth lacrosse teams in the area and raise awareness.

The club will have its first meeting on Jan. 11 at 4 pm in Lakeside's cafeteria.

I see the mention of students at schools without teams eligible for this club team. Is that only public school students or Can private schoolers without teams and homeschoolers in the area participate?
